My Teddy Bear
Music and Lyrics by David Casey
I think this is the first kids song I wrote. It was for my sister, Becky, when she was about 4. It was originally a little piano song. But when I tried it on the ukulele it started to sound like an old vaudeville novelty song. The percussion kit is chopsticks on a chair, bean cans, pie-tins, a watering can and a super cheap cymbal turned inside out.
My teddy bear is my steady bear
My teddy bear is my friend
My teddy bear is my steady bear
My teddy bear is my friend
My teddy bear is soft and quiet
My teddy bear doesn’t need to diet
‘Cause my teddy bear is my steady bear
He’s the only one for me
My teddy bear is my steady bear
My teddy bear is my friend
My teddy bear is my steady bear
My teddy bear is my friend
My teddy bear is soft and cuddly
My teddy bear is fuddly-dee-duddly
My teddy bear is my steadiest bear
He’s the only one for me
My teddy bear is my steady bear
My teddy bear is my friend
My teddy bear is my steady bear
My teddy bear is my very, very
Furry, hairy, not barely
Verily, truly, very best friend
