Rock and Roll Duck
Music and Lyrics by David Casey
Most people want to know what that sound is. Well, you remember those “groan tube” toys? They are these hollow plastic sticks that you tip back and forth and make a weird noise. Well, ours broke and the first thing I did was look inside to find out what made the weird sound. It’s a little plastic noise-maker thing that I put in my mouth and that was the birth of our friend, Rock And Roll Duck.
I never wanted to be a rock and roll duck
No, I never wanted to be a rock and roll duck
I’d like to be a monkey on the slide trombone
Or maybe I could be a starfish on the tenor saxophone
But my daddy always told me when you’re feeling stuck
You go and be what you are, that’s right a rock and roll duck
But I never wanted to be a rock and roll duck
No, I never wanted to be a rock and roll duck
I’d like to be a buffalo who plays on the harp
Or maybe I could be an elephant who plays guitar
I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the apple truck
I’m gonna be what I am, a natural rock and roll duck, yeah
No, I never wanted to be a rock and roll duck
But I think I kinda like it I’m a rock and roll duck
I’m something you have never seen, totally state of the art
I’m one of a kind, no back up copy, all original parts
So take it from me, I wish you all the best of luck
Be what you are, that’s right, says the rock and roll duck
